Because the Wii Shop Channel officially closed in 2019, these collections are currently the primary way for enthusiasts to preserve and play these "lost" digital titles.

1G1R (One Game, One ROM)
This project utilizes the methodology and Redump.org verification standards to organize what would otherwise be a redundant and cluttered library of disc images and digital downloads. What is 1G1R? The Wii Shop Channel is dead (closed March 2019)
- The Wii Shop Channel is dead (closed March 2019). The only legal way to get these games now is if you previously downloaded them on a real Wii.
- Regional licensing meant many games were exclusive to Japan (e.g., Okiraku Ping Pong or Final Fantasy IV: The After Years - certain chapters). A 1G1R set will typically pick the English version where possible, or default to the Japanese version with an English patch (if available).
- File bloat: A complete, non-1G1R WiiWare collection could contain 1000+ WAD files. A 1G1R set reduces that to the ~600 unique titles.
The preservation of WiiWare titles not only celebrates the innovative spirit of the Wii era but also ensures that future generations of gamers and developers can access and learn from these digital artifacts. As the project continues, it will undoubtedly become a cornerstone for gaming historians and enthusiasts alike.
