1. Games for Windows Live (GFWL) Relics: Even if you use the Steam version, Dirt 3 originally depended on GFWL. Remnants of this DRM still block save permissions.
2. Windows User Account Control (UAC): Dirt 3 tries to write save data to Program Files or AppData folders. Modern Windows (10/11) often blocks this silently.
3. Corrupted Profile Data: One crash can corrupt the savegame file, making the game believe no profile exists.

• Open Windows Security → Virus & threat protection.
• Scroll to Ransomware protection → Click Manage ransomware protection.
• Toggle Controlled folder access to Off.
• Alternative: If you want it on, click Allow an app through Controlled folder access → Add Dirt3.exe (found in Steam\steamapps\common\DiRT 3).
