The film’s strongest asset is its adherence to the source material’s structure. It retains the epistolary feel of Stoker’s novel, utilizing voiceover narration from Harker’s journal entries. For purists, this is a nice touch that grounds the modern setting in the gothic atmosphere of the original story. The transition from business deal to horror survival is handled competently, and the script understands the themes of obsession and predation inherent in the Dracula mythos.
