- Mission-Based Structure: Instead of a semi-open world, the game is divided into 15 linear levels. You select missions from a map screen. No free-roaming between islands.
- Checkpoint System: No manual saving. The game uses fixed checkpoints, which can lead to frustrating repetition, especially in later difficulty spikes.
- Shooting & Controls: Uses the classic PSP layout—analog nub for movement, face buttons for aiming (no second analog stick). Aiming is clunky but manageable with a lock-on feature. Weapons include the standard FPS arsenal (AK-47, M4, sniper rifles, rocket launchers), but the gunplay lacks the punch of the PC original.
- Stealth & AI: Enemy AI is noticeably simplified. Guards have predictable patrols and slow reaction times. Stealth is possible but often unnecessary due to reduced detection ranges.
- Vehicles & Environment: Jeeps and hang gliders appear in a few levels, but vehicle handling is stiff, and the physics are basic. Destructible foliage from the PC version is completely absent.
Avoid it if:
- Veteran Mode: Unlockable after completion – no HUD, forced classic controls.
- Downloadable challenge maps (through PSP’s Wi-Fi – hypothetical).
- Save anywhere (not just between missions – unlike OG PC release!).
