7. Comparison with Other FIDIC 2017 Books

While the Red, Yellow, and Silver Books received major updates in 2017, the Green Book remained in its 1999 form until late 2021. Users often search for a "2017 version" because they expect the Green Book to match the rest of the 2017 "Rainbow Suite" timeline. However, the 2021 Green Book is the official companion meant to be used alongside those 2017 forms. Key Features of the New Green Book (2nd Ed, 2021)

Do not jump to the General Conditions. The Green Book includes a preliminary section explaining how to fill in the Contract Agreement, Appendix (Particular Conditions), and the various Schedules.

  • Suspension: Employer can suspend for up to 28 days (then Contractor may terminate).
  • Delay damages (Liquidated Damages) – set in Contract Data; not limited to 10% unless stated.
  • The Contractor shall commence the Works on the Commencement Date stated in the Appendix and shall proceed regularly and diligently.
