HDD Regenerator cannot repair a drive while Windows is reading/writing to it.

- Scanning: The software performs a deep scan of every sector (usually 512 bytes each).
- Detection: It differentiates between slow-responding sectors (delay) and dead sectors (CRC errors).
- Regeneration: When a bad sector is found, the software attempts to flip the magnetic state of that sector back to a readable state.
- Remapping (Fallback): If regeneration fails, it forces a reallocation of the sector to the spare area (similar to what a disk controller does automatically).
- Download the official installer from dposoft.net.
- Install on a working Windows PC. Do NOT install it on the failing drive.
- Run as Administrator.
- Enter your HDD Regenerator Key when prompted at launch (or go to Help > Register).
- Create Bootable Media: If Windows won't boot, insert a USB stick (minimum 256MB) and select "Bootable USB." The software will write a DOS-based environment to it.
- Boot from the USB (change BIOS boot order).
- Select the target drive. (Be careful not to select your backup drive).
- Choose "Normal Scan with Repair."
