Core Workflow
Helicon Focus is a professional focus-stacking software designed to merge multiple images taken at different focus distances into a single photograph with an extended depth of field.
Export
Use the menu to resize images for social media. A common mistake is exporting 4000px wide images to Instagram—resize to 2048px for faster uploads. helicon focus user guide
- Radius (default 4–8): Controls how far the algorithm looks for sharpness differences.
User Interface
- Find an artifact (e.g., a ghosting halo around a petal, or a blurred area where the algorithm chose the wrong frame).
- In the right panel, scroll through the source images until you find the one frame where that area is perfectly sharp.
- Select the Brush Tool. Adjust the size and hardness (0% hardness for soft blending).
- Paint over the artifact in the left panel. Helicon Focus automatically pulls the perfect data from your selected source frame.
- Clone Stamp: Use this for removing dust spots or sensor dust that appears in only one frame.
