- Hold down the Option key on your keyboard.
- Click the Apple logo in the top-left corner.
- Select System Information (while still holding Option).
- The System Information app will launch.
- Ensure Hardware is selected in the left sidebar.
- Click the Apple icon () in the top-left corner of your screen.
- Select About This Mac from the dropdown menu.
- A window will appear. On newer macOS versions (Ventura, Sonoma, Sequoia), click More Info.
- The serial number is listed in the overview tab. It is a string of alphanumeric characters.
