- Heat the Water: Heat water to a temperature that is hot but comfortable to touch (approx. 120°F - 140°F).
- Add Salt: Mix a generous amount of table salt or rock salt into the water. Salt lowers the melting point of ice, accelerating the process.
- Pour Slowly: Pour the mixture down the affected drain. Give it 15–20 minutes to work on the ice.
- Repeat: You may need to do this two or three times.
