Huawei B612-233 Firmware — A Short Discourse

  • Completion:
    1. Turn off the B612-233. Disconnect the power adapter.
    2. Rename your firmware file to UPDATE.APP (all caps).
    3. Open your TFTP software. Set the root directory to the folder containing UPDATE.APP.
    4. Set the TFTP server IP to 192.168.1.10.
    5. Connect your PC’s Ethernet port to LAN1 on the B612-233.
    6. Hold the WPS/Wi-Fi button on the side of the router. While holding it, plug in the power adapter.
    7. Keep holding the button for 15–20 seconds. The power LED will start blinking slowly (once per second), then rapidly (5x per second). Release the button.
    8. The router will request UPDATE.APP from your TFTP server. You will see transfer logs in your TFTP software.
    9. Wait 10 minutes. The router will reboot itself with the new firmware.
