To qualify for the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP)
- Multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, stroke with lasting deficits, severe traumatic brain injury.
Eligibility Criteria
- Spinal Cord Injuries: Paraplegia, quadriplegia (Automatic approval).
- Degenerative Disc Disease (Severe): With radiculopathy (nerve root compression) and documented loss of range of motion.
- Failed Back Surgery Syndrome: Chronic pain after multiple spinal surgeries.
- Advanced Osteoarthritis: Specifically in weight-bearing joints (hips, knees, spine) where surgery is refused or unsuccessful.
- Rheumatoid Arthritis: With documented joint deformity and fatigue preventing full-time work.
- Fibromyalgia: Difficult but possible. Requires a rheumatologist’s report showing tender points, non-restorative sleep, and cognitive dysfunction ("fibro fog") that persists despite treatment.
- Amputation: Above or below knee/elbow (automatic if it impacts dominant hand or ambulation).
