• File Size: The exclusive is exactly 67,108,864 bytes (64 MB raw). Later trimmed dumps are usually 63.9 MB.
• Missing Dipswitches: In MAME 0.139u1, pressing Tab to enter the menu will show no region settings (Japan/USA/Export). The exclusive defaults to Export mode. Later ROMs have full dipswitch access.
• The "Blood" Test: Metal Slug 6 has less blood than previous entries. However, the exclusive ROM retains a developer leftover where zombie blood splatters are bright green instead of red. This "green blood" glitch was "fixed" in all subsequent ROM dumps.
• Sound Sync: On the first level (the beach invasion), listen to the music. In the exclusive ROM, the drum track perfectly syncs with the explosion of the first tank. In all other versions, the drum track is delayed by 200ms.

• MAME 0.139u1 was released around March 2010.
• At that time, Metal Slug 6 (originally an Atomiswave arcade board game) was only partially emulated in MAME.
• The “exclusive” tag often means:
  • Different ROM set name – In some older MAME builds, mslug6 was the main set, but around 0.139u1, a clone or bootleg set was marked as exclusive to that version due to a newly dumped board or a decrypted program ROM.
  • Decrypted vs encrypted – Earlier MAME required special BIOS/keys; 0.139u1 might have included a decrypted version that didn’t need the Atomiswave BIOS, making it "exclusive" to that MAME build.
  • Missing parent set – Sometimes a version-specific ROM was released as exclusive because the parent ROM hadn't been dumped correctly yet, so only a hacked or bootlegged set worked.
  • Pleasuredome (old ROM torrent tracker) sometimes flagged sets as exclusive to a specific MAME version if the set was only available from a certain datfile.
  • ROM sites from 2010–2012 often claimed "MAME 0.139u1 exclusive" to imply the ROM was newly playable and bug-free on that build, especially for Metal Slug 6 which had sound or slowdown issues in earlier MAME versions.
