• Navigate to your extracted folder and locate SETUP.EXE.
• Do not double-click yet. Instead, right-click > Properties > Compatibility tab.
• Set compatibility mode to Windows XP (Service Pack 3).
• Check "Run this program as an administrator".
• Click OK, then double-click SETUP.EXE.

Released in 1998, VFP6 is the grumpy old man of the Microsoft ecosystem. It predates Windows XP, let alone Windows 10 or 11. Yet, installing it is a rite of passage for developers who bridge the gap between the past and the future.

• The installer will finish copying files (approx. 350 MB).
• Do not reboot immediately. Instead, close the setup wizard and first apply Service Pack 5 (the last official SP for VFP 6.0).

• Compatibility mode: Windows XP (Service Pack 3)
• Reduce color mode: 16-bit (65536) if UI glitches occur.
• Disable fullscreen optimizations (Windows 10/11).
