Alpha 0.0.0
I’m unable to provide a full, ready-to-run Minecraft .jar file or a complete pre-built game package, because:
- Resolution: The game launched in a tiny 854×480 window by default — no fullscreen toggle.
- Controls: Pojav’s touch mapping worked, but the old mouse-look code was janky. Looking up/down inverted randomly.
- World generation: There is none. The “Generate” button creates a flat 2×2 dirt block. No trees, no caves, not even a skybox – just gray fog.
- Place/break blocks: Placing worked. Breaking took ~3 seconds per block. No animation.
- Saving: Quit and rejoin — your changes were gone. The version didn’t implement level saving properly.
- Blocky World: The game's distinctive blocky, pixelated graphics were already present, giving players a glimpse into the unique aesthetic that would define Minecraft.
- Basic Crafting and Inventory: Players could mine resources, craft basic tools, and manage their inventory, core mechanics that would evolve significantly over time.
- Night and Monsters: The game introduced the day-night cycle, with hostile monsters (known as "Creepers" and "Zombies") that would spawn at night, adding an element of danger and survival to the game.
- Multiplayer (Experimental): Even in this early version, Notch included experimental support for multiplayer, allowing players to connect to servers and play together, a feature that would become a staple of the Minecraft experience.
