- Old e-learning modules (SCORM packages using Flash)
- Classic online games (think Fancy Pants Adventure, Stick War)
- Archived advertising banners or interactive resumes
- Educational software from the 2000s
- Download a verified player – Get the Ruffle standalone release from their official GitHub, or FlashPoint from BlueMaxima’s site.
- Install or extract – Most are portable (no installation required).
- Open your SWF file – Either use the player’s “Open File” menu or drag your
.swf file onto the player’s window.
- Interact – Click, type, and play as if it were 2008.
- Ruffle (Desktop Version): An emulator written in Rust. It is the future, offering perfect ActionScript 1 & 2 support. It is exclusive because it does nothing else except play SWF.
- Luna Player (Legacy Mode): A niche Windows player that can run the original Adobe ActiveX control in a sandbox. Best for ActionScript 3.
