Twilight Render Hobby version is a popular free rendering plugin for SketchUp designed for beginners and hobbyists

3. Technical Overview

  • Sunlight: Turn on Shadows in SketchUp (View > Shadows). Twilight will automatically read SketchUp's geo-location sun.
  • Lights: Draw a circle, make it a Group, then right-click > Twilight > Create Light > Point Light. Place it inside a lampshade.
  • Maximum resolution – 1920x1080 (the Pro version goes to 4K+).
  • No network rendering – Pro supports render farms.
  • No normal/displacement mapping – This is the biggest technical limitation. Free version uses bump mapping only.
  • No render animation support – You can’t output image sequences for walkthroughs.
