- Battery Rotations: Change batteries every 12 months regardless of status. Old batteries are the #1 cause of heat.
- Motor Exercise: Once a month, cycle the lock 10 times using a staff card. This keeps lubricant from hardening, which causes the motor to overwork and get hot.
- Clean the Reader: Dust causes the IR sensor to stay active. Use a can of compressed air (not liquid) to clean the card slot.
- Insert your room key card into the minibar card slot to enable power.
- Place safe-to-heat container on the heating pad; ensure lid is vented and container is microwave-safe.
- Press the minibar "Hot" button once. The LED indicator will illuminate and display remaining time.
- Wait for the cycle to finish; the minibar will beep once and automatically shut off.
- Remove container carefully — contents may be hot.
