WORKNC is widely recognized in the mold, die, and tooling industries as a high-performance CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) solution. It is specifically designed for complex 3D machining, offering tools for 2D, 3-axis, and advanced 5-axis milling.
Before cutting metal, you must establish your work environment. worknc tutorial
- Go to
File > New. - Select your machine configuration (e.g., 3-Axis Vertical Mill).
- Import a part:
File > Import > STEP or IGES. (WorkNC has excellent native translators for CATIA, SolidWorks, and NX).
Define Material and Stock
: Choose your material from the drop-down list to filter appropriate tooling data from the Hexagon ToolStore. WORKNC is widely recognized in the mold, die,
- In the Operation Tree, hold
Ctrland select both the Roughing and Finishing operations. - Right-click >
Post Process. - Select your machine's Post Processor from the list (e.g.,
Haas_VF_3_MM.ppr). - Choose an output folder. Click
Generate. WorkNC will produce a single.ncfile containing both operations, complete with tool changes and coolant commands.
- Download a free STEP file from GrabCAD.
- Open WorkNC and follow Part 3 of this article exactly.
- Make a mistake. Crash the tool in simulation (not in real life!).
- Use the
Recalculatefunction to fix it.
