Elite urban critics decried her as “vulgar,” while semi-urban and rural audiences celebrated her as “daring” and “mass-friendly.” Importantly, female fans in online discussions often expressed admiration for her confidence and refusal to feign modesty. A content analysis of YouTube comments on her song compilations shows recurring themes: “She owns her image” and “No hypocrisy like other heroines.” This suggests that for a segment of the female audience, Namitha’s entertainment content offered a form of vicarious liberation from restrictive gender norms.
